Across the school, pupils have been showing their commitment to EFFORT, one of our BEAR learning behaviours, and it has been great to see this mindset reflected in their work, play and interactions with each other. Looking ahead to next half term, our whole‑school focus will shift to ASPIRATION, helping our children to dream big, set goals, and believe in the possibilities ahead of them.
We have been trying hard to develop our Oracy skills this year - practising our speaking and listening. We are becoming experts at sharing ideas with others and standing to speak in class so that everyone and see and hear what we have to say. Why not ask your child to demonstrate?
This half term has also been rich with opportunities for children to live their learning. Year 4 have deepened their understanding of faith and culture through an engaging Passover workshop; Year 6 stepped back in time on their fascinating visit to Nothe Fort; Year 5 explored and appreciated our beautiful local heathland; Year 2 embarked on an exciting journey into history with their Titanic trip and our Young Carers visited Honeypot House. These experiences continue to enrich our curriculum and bring our learning to life. Parent’s Evenings will be taking place after half term. Please remember to book your appointment with your child’s class teacher via the MCAS app. Our teachers are excited to share the amazing learning your children have been completing.
Whilst this newsletter celebrates everything happening in school, please remember that we love to hear about the children’s adventures beyond the school gates and their acts of being Bearwood Brilliant in the community. I wish you all a safe half‑term break and look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 23rd February 2025.
