Our Vision and Values

Our vision for ‘Learning, Enjoying and Succeeding Together’ is at the heart of all that we are and all that we do as a school. This is our Bearwood Belief.
Our Bearwood Belief emphasises our commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where every child can excel and thrive in their spiritual, academic, physical and emotional development.

We believe that EVERY child DESERVES to have the following entitlements as they journey through their time at Bearwood.

This is underpinned by our core values of ‘Ready, Respectful, Safe’. These are an important part of our daily school life, understood by all and driven by all to ensure that all can learn, enjoy and succeed together.

It is our aim and belief that all children will thrive with our core values; Ready, Respectful, Safe. All three core values are understood by all, demonstrated by all and driven by all.

We expect to hear the language of Ready, Respectful, Safe being used by children and staff.

READY to learn – arrive at school on time, equipment ready, uniform looking smart, work hard, good listening and follow the 4B’s.

RESPECTFUL – friendly and polite, listen when others speak, take turns, help others and look after the property of our friends and the school.

SAFE – use kind hands, feet and words to help keep us and others safe, move around school in a safe manner, listen and follow instructions, use equipment safely and tell an adult if you feel unsafe.

Bearwood ‘BEAR’ Learning Behaviours

Our ‘BEAR’ learning behaviours underpin everything we do at Bearwood Primary and Nursery School – they help us to live out our Bearwood Belief – Learning, Enjoying, Succeeding Together. We spend time learning about how to use them in our learning and receive house points and other rewards for demonstrating them.

Bearwood Primary & Nursery School is a happy and inclusive school for children aged 2-11 years old located in North Poole, Dorset. We strongly believe in working together as a team and welcome all children and their families to become part of our school community.

At Bearwood Primary & Nursery School, our aims are rooted in our Bearwood Belief: Learning, Enjoying and Succeeding Together. We strive to create a nurturing, inspiring and inclusive environment where every child can flourish and be Bearwood Brilliant!

We aim to:

  1. Place Children at the Heart of All We Do

Ensure every decision and action is guided by what is best for our children’s development, wellbeing and future success.

Uphold our core values of Ready, Respectful, Safe to ensure all children feel secure, valued and empowered.

  5. Build Strong Partnerships

Work collaboratively with families and the wider community to create a united and supportive learning environment.

  6. Celebrate Diversity and Inclusion

Embrace and respect the individuality of every child, promoting equality and celebrating differences.

  7. Encourage Personal Growth and Wellbeing

Support children’s spiritual, emotional and mental wellbeing, helping them to develop resilience, self-belief and high self esteem, promoting a can do ethos.

  8. Provide a Vibrant Learning Environment

Maintain a stimulating and welcoming school setting that reflects our commitment to excellence and creativity.

  9. Listen and Respond

Be a caring and open school where every voice is heard, and every concern or idea is valued.

We will do this by;

  • Providing our Bearwood Belief entitlements on a daily basis

  • Welcoming our children into school each day

  • Showing our children that we care by listening and taking note

  • Ensuring our learning spaces are organised, welcoming and engaging

  • Delivering well planned and appropriately engaging lessons

  • Being positive role models throughout each day

  • Planning experiences beyond the curriculum

  • Using positive verbal and physical language to all members of the community

  • Believing that everybody can achieve highly

  • Supporting each other to make Bearwood, a great place to spend the day
